History
The Bonogin Fire Brigade was formed in 1992 after a fire went through the southern end of the Valley in 1991. Local residents rallied together to protect their properties and they decided to form a brigade.

The first meeting was held in February 1992
in a shaded area just across from the present
Fire Station location.

About twenty locals attended and with the help of Rod Cox from the Tallebudgera Valley Brigade, decided to form a brigade through an application process from the Qld. Rural Fire Service.
A committee was formed and along with nominated Officers the brigade was born. The first couple of years were difficult both financially and equipment wise.
Donations were the only form of revenue and with no fire vehicle immediately available, we responded to fires in private vehicles with knapsacks and beaters.
Fundraising began and with local support from Bonogin and Mudgeeraba District, a new vehicle was purchased and delivered in December 1993. Membership increased and fundraising continued over the next five years enabling the Brigade to build a station and acquire subsequent vehicles.

Today the Station has been extended and we have a fleet of four near new vehicles with an operational membership of twenty five and ten support members.
Revenue is generated by a local levy from the GCCC rates system and fundraising events coordinated by the Brigade members.
All income is strictly controlled with an external audit conducted annually.
The brigade each year performs the "Santa Run", to say thank you to the community for it's support.
If you are new to the valley and have not experienced this event yet, get ready!

Santa appears on Christmas eve and wishes everyone a merry xmas.

He also hands out bags of lollies, kindly donated by the General Store,
to the hundreds of children that come out to greet him.

So when you hear the sirens get ready, Santa is on his way!
